Nestwork Inc’s Housing Justice Community Learning Sessions support renters in achieving safe, stable, and dignified housing by addressing habitability issues, reducing utility burden, and strengthening self-advocacy through education, navigation, and support through resources and tools in our own communities.

  • Tenant Rights, Responsibilities & Self-Advocacy
    Learning sessions empower renters with a clear understanding of tenant rights, landlord responsibilities, and housing standards related to safety and habitability. Participants learn how to document housing issues, communicate effectively with landlords, and advocate for necessary repairs or accommodations with an emphasis on navigating housing systems confidently while understanding maintaining responsibilities.

  • Healthy Housing & Habitability Standards
    Focused on housing quality, learning sessions help renters identify common habitability concerns such as mold, inadequate heating, unsafe electrical systems, and structural issues. Participants learn how poor housing conditions impact physical and emotional well-being, how to properly document concerns, and how to navigate reporting or remediation processes while maintaining housing stability.

  • Utilities, Energy Burden & Cost Management
    This class addresses the financial strain of utilities by helping renters understand energy usage, utility billing, and cost-saving strategies. Participants learn how to reduce energy burden, communicate with utility providers, and access assistance programs when available. The class also explores the stress and emotional toll of high utility costs and strategies for managing housing-related financial pressure.

    Designed for individuals and families experiencing seasonal or migrant housing instability, this class focuses on planning, navigation, and continuity of housing.
